What is Happening

A meeting of the War Decorated Trust was held on Thursday at Chandigarh. The following Trustees were present:

Discussion centered around passing the audited accounts for the year 2012-2013 and the Scholarship Scheme of the Trust.

Lieutenant Colonel Mahatam Singh was commanding a battalion of JAK Rifles in the Cho La area during the period from 23 June to October 1967, when there was constant tension and provocation from the Chinese forces. Despite difficult terrain and weather conditions, the troops under his able leadership carried out their task commendably. Lieutenant Colonel Mahatam Singh always kept a firm grip over the situation. On 1 October, when the enemy launched a sudden attack on our positions, Lieutenant Colonel Mahatam Singh reached the scene after an arduous march and restored the situation almost instantaneously and also established physical contact with one of our positions which had borne the brunt of the fighting.

Throughout, Lieutenant Colonel Mahatam Singh displayed exemplary courage, leadership and devotion to duty
