Citation:

Lance Havildar Sukhdev Singh was the commander of a section of Dogra Regiment, which was ordered to attackwell-fortified enemy position in the Eastern Sector. During the assault, an enemy heavy machine gun opened up from a flank. Unmindful of his safety, Lance Havildar Sukhdev Singh crawled up to the heavy machine gun and silenced it with a grenade. Thereafter, he charged two neighbouring enemy trenches and bayoneted the enemy personnel. This action contributed in no small measure to the capture of the objective by the battalion.

In this action, Lance Havildar Sukhdev Singh displayed gallantry, determination and devotion to duty of a high order.
